Sponsored by the Leadership Alliance with a grant from the Mellon Foundation, the the Leadership Alliance Mellon Initiative (LAMI) aims to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing graduate education and careers in the humanities and social sciences. At UVA the LAMI is an eight-week research internship for rising juniors and seniors from groups traditionally underrepresented in humanities and/or social science doctoral studies. In addition to participating in faculty-mentored, research projects, present at a national symposium and receive training in graduate school preparation and the use of digital tools.
LAMI Opportunities at UVA

- $3,000 stipend

Applications for LAMI are accepted November 1—February 1. The programs run from June 4—August 1, 2017.
