Carlos Velazco Fernández is a PhD student at the Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese of the University of Virginia. His research interests include Caribbean cultures, Migration and Diaspora, Memory studies, Relationship of literature and art with cultural history, and Cuban Archive. He obtained a degree in Journalism at the University of Havana. He co-authored the books Sobre los pasos del cronista (2011), about Guillermo Cabrera Infante, and Hablar de Guillermo Rosales (2013). His work has been recently published in Cristóbal Díaz Ayala. Vigía de la música cubano caribeña (2020) and Reinaldo Arenas. La escritura como destino (2021).
